Since this is Memorial weekend we need to remember our military heroes. These are very special people who made sacrifices for our freedom. so please honor them. Thank you.
This weekend is fun for many of us across America. Lots of barbecues, picnics, camping, fishing, etc. It is a day to spend time with our families and friends. A time to enjoy a day off from work. But this day goes far beyond just having a long weekend, or grilling up some hamburgers.
We each need to remember to take a moment and honor the men and women who died on our behalf in battlefields around the world. We must take the time to honor their sacrifice for us.
As a veteran of the war in Iraq, I came to realize the cost of what liberty is, and it is something I can never forget. The price for me to even write this today was because men and women, knowing they may go into harms way, raise their right hand and swear to uphold and defend the Constitution. When they do get placed in harms way, they move forward into the chaos, and ultimately, give up their lives so that we can remain free.
I ask each and every one of you to join with me across this nation at noon on Memorial Day for a moment of silence to reflect on those we know who have fallen on foreign shores. If you do not have someone you know personally, take the time just to honor all of them and their memories.
I would like to take a moment and deliver the names of the men I served with in my time in the Marine Corps who were not able to be here to day, and honor them. I will never forget the impact they had in my life, and they will forever remain my brothers. Some of them I knew very well, and others only for a little while, but they are my friends, and my heroes nonetheless.

God bless their families, and may we never forget.
Remember the words of Pelosi when she said that 'We have to pass the bill before we know what's in it"? Well, this is a story to go with it.
I was in my neighborhood restaurant this morning and was seated behind a group of jubilant individuals celebrating the successful passing of the recent health care bill. I could not finish my breakfast. This is what ensued: They were a diverse group of several races and both sexes. I heard the young man exclaim, “Isn't Obama like Jesus Christ? I mean, after all, he is healing the sick.” The young woman enthusiastically proclaimed, “Yeah, and he does it for free. I cannot believe anyone would think that a free market would work for health care. They are all crooks and thieves and don't deserve all of that money.” Another said, “The stupid Republicans want us all to starve to death so they can inherit all of the power. Obama should be made a Saint for what he did for those of us less fortunate.”
At this, I'd had enough. I arose from my seat, mustering all the restraint I could find, and approached their table. Please excuse me; may I impose upon you for one moment? They smiled and welcomed me to the conversation. I stood at the end of their table, smiled as best I could and began an experiment. I would like to give one of you my house. It will cost you no money and I will pay all of the expenses and taxes for as long as you live there. Anyone interested? They looked at each other in astonishment. Why would you do something like that asked a young man, There isn't anything for free in this world. They began to laugh at me, as they did not realize this man had just made my point. I am serious, I will give you my house for free, no money what so ever. Anyone interested? In unison, a resounding Hell Yeah fills the room. Since there are too many of you, I will have to make a choice as to who receives this money free bargain. I noticed an elderly couple was paying attention to the spectacle unfolding before their eyes, the old man shaking his head in apparent disgust. I tell you what; I will give it to the one of you most willing to obey my rules. Again, they looked at one another, an expression of bewilderment on their faces. The perky young woman asked, “What are the rules?” I smiled and said, “I don't know. I have not yet defined them. However, it is a free home that I offer you.” They giggled amongst themselves, the youngest of which said, “What an old coot. He must be crazy to give away his home. Go take your meds, old man.” I smiled and leaned into the table a bit further. I am serious, this is a legitimate offer. They gaped at me for a moment. I'll take it you old fool. Where are the keys boasted the youngest among them. “Then I presume you accept ALL of my terms then.” I asked. The elderly couple seemed amused and entertained as they watched from the privacy of their table. Oh yeah! Where do I sign up? I took a napkin and wrote, I give this man my home, without the burden of financial obligation, so long as he accepts and abides by the terms that I shall set forth upon consummation of this transaction. I signed it and handed it to the young man who eagerly scratched out his signature.
“ Where are the keys to my new house” he asked in a mocking tone of voice. All eyes were upon us as I stepped back from the table, pulling the keys from pocket and dangling them before the excited new homeowner. Now that we have entered into this binding contract, witnessed by all of your friends, I have decided upon the conditions you are obligated to adhere from this point forward. You may only live in the house for one hour a day. You will not use anything inside of the home. You will obey me without question or resistance. I expect complete loyalty and admiration for this gift I bestow upon you. You will accept my commands and wishes with enthusiasm, no matter the nature. Your morals and principles shall be as mine. You will vote as I do, think as I do and do it with blind faith. These are my terms. Here are your keys. I reached the keys forward and the young man looked at me dumb founded. “Are you out of your mind? Who would ever agree to those ridiculous terms?” The young man appeared irritated.
You did when you signed this contract before reading it, understanding it and with the full knowledge that I would provide my conditions only after you committed to the agreement. The elderly man chuckled as his wife tried to restrain him. I was looking at a now silenced and bewildered group of people. “You can shove that stupid deal, I want no part of it", exclaimed the now infuriated young man. You have committed to the contract, as witnessed by all of your friends; you cannot get out of the deal unless I agree to it. I do not intend to let you free now that I have you ensnared. I am the power you agreed to. I am the one you blindly and without thought chose to enslave yourself to. In short, I am your Master.
At this, the table of celebrating individuals became a unified group against the unfairness of the deal. After a few moments of unrepeatable comments and slurs, I revealed my true intent. What I did to you is what this administration and congress did to you with the health care legislation. I easily suckered you in and then revealed the real cost of the bargain. Your folly was in the belief that you can have something you did not earn; that you are entitled to that which you did not earn; that you willingly allowed someone else to think for you. Your failure to research, study and inform yourself permitted reason to escape you. You have entered into a trap from which you cannot flee. Your only chance of freedom is if your new Master gives it unto you. A freedom that is given can also be taken away; therefore, it is not freedom. With that, I tore up the napkin and placed it before the astonished young man. This is the nature of your new health care legislation. I turned away to leave these few in thought and contemplation and was surprised by applause.
The elderly gentleman, who was clearly entertained, shook my hand enthusiastically and said, Thank you Sir, these kids don't understand Liberty these days. He refused to allow me to pay my bill as he said, “You earned this one, it is an honor to pickup the tab.” I shook his hand in thanks, leaving the restaurant somewhat humbled, and sensing a glimmer of hope for my beloved country. Use reason, it is the closest you are going to get to Godly conduct.
If you learn the truth about the past and you teach the truth of the past, hopefully the bad will not be repeated in the future.
This week has been going exceptionally well. I continue to gather signatures for ballot access in the election, and even though I do technically have the required amount, I want to ensure that it is over the threshold in case someone forgot to register to vote, or they can’t be found due to marriage etc.
Fundraising has been a little slower than I had originally anticipated, but I am sure that it will pick up as time goes on. After all, we are a year away from the heavy campaigning. I am very grateful for those of you who have been so kind as to donate to the campaign.
We are ramping up to bring a new website design. Originally, we were going for something very simple to get out immediately, but now that we have the time to work on it, my team will be putting out something I think you will all enjoy. The basic design will encompass exactly what I believe in as a candidate, and will help demonstrate exactly what I will do as Utah’s representative in the House.
I want to especially thank the volunteers who have been helping get the word out about me. I honestly do not know what I would do without the wonderful people working with me. They have been helping get signatures, providing materials to the voters, and doing a lot of leg work. We still have a while to go, but the group of individuals I am working with are dedicated volunteers and I really cannot thank them enough.
I also got word back from the Federal Election Commission finally so that we can begin our required quarterly filing of financial statements, and I have also received what I needed from the House Committee on Ethics. As things continue to come together and ducks line up, I get more hopeful as this turns into a reality.
Please be sure to stop by the website at http://craig4congress.biz.ly and make a donation. We cannot make it without your help. And if you are in the North Ogden area, feel free to stop me if you see me and ask me any questions you may have. I would also recommend stopping by the events page on the website so you can find out where I will be and meet me.
I appreciate all the hard work and perseverance so far, and know the Craig Bowden team will make it far in this election cycle.
I've been saying for years that the Church is not a building, it is people.... It is written: 'You are the Temple of God."
I rebuked many who are just Christians in 'name' only and then, only on Sundays, while the rest of the week they are heathens.
I preach that, "do you know why these benches are called pews? It is because you sit in them long enough they begin to stink."
God is so very wise that He uses us as a 'portable' church to go anyway with His message. How awesome is that!?
My opinion, between you me and the lamp post!?
I abhor those making a plea for money from the pulpit or the T.V. or sending you mountains of mail.
I am on S.S. after working almost all my life. So I don't appreciate some young snot preacher telling me that I have to tithe off of that.
I state that ( which is the truth) I paid tithes on my s.s. by giving God one tenth of my gross income. So the tithe was paid on the S.S. I am receiving now.
The arrogant imbeciles tell, me ..."Where you saved when you starting working for a pay check?" I say, "No, but I am forgiving for that time before I knew the Lord and was became saved after."
Then you get the 'wannabe' minister. Actually they are goats that want to fleece the sheep.
Years back I was a president of the chapter of "The Great Commission' ministry that met in restaurants once a week . Before I was in that position, I use to attend this chapter. I noticed this guy who always came early to order his breakfast.
He was a self-proclaimed missionary. He called himself that. After eating he would stay around, not contributing anything toward the meeting. Never bringing any lost souls in.
The rules of this ministry was that The Great Commission would pay for the meal of the any new person, for the first time that came to the meeting. There after, if they came again to any meeting,, they paid for their own meals.
Well, this dodo bird would charge his meal every meeting.
Then quietly slip out the door when the meeting was in full force.
When I became president there. I arrived my first morning as president, earlier than this dummy. I told the waitress to give him this note b4 he orders his meal
I wrote a not saying, " unless you want to wash dishes for this restaurant to pay for your meal, do not order it unless you can pay for it. The Great Commission will not be paying for you meals now, or in the future...........God Bless You. signed, The new Sheriff in town.
I watched him fling back his chair roughly and glare at me and stomp out and never came back.
Another thing I hate is so called people who profess to have a ministry ( with one lone member.......themselves) and come up to me telling me...."God told me you are to donate to my ministry....and some even tell me how much."
I tell them ," Until God tells me that! I keep my money in my purse and wait on the Lord!"
Another one liner I tell these people is....."If God sent Paul the Apostle with nothing but the clothes on his back...............and God gifted Paul earlier in his life as a Rabbi to make ( tents) prayer shawls to support himself..............you are you not to work to support yourself with the natural gifts God gave you?"
I would be out of the will of God if I did God's job of SUPPLYING ALL YOUR NEEDS! NOW WOULD I?"
I could write a book on all kinds of experiences I get since I have been a believer.
I do not suffer the curse of poverty . Tell you why, because I love to give.
I mean, I LOVE TO GIVE! I keep just enough to be keep my bills paid and food on the table.
If my husband knew what I really did with my s.s. ( not his) he would be puzzled.
Example. I asked God for new clothes. My clothes were so old, that the best piece of clothing I had was 15 years old.
I had a few pieces that I had made that were over the top gorgeous. I kept them safe in a garment bag and was gonna use it for the Rapture...lol.
I used these only on very very special occasions, of course. God told me to give it away. I said, WHAT??? Devil get thee behind me. lol
I really thought it was the devil. Then I thought, wait a minute. God never tells you to give something away like that without replacing it with something better.
So I found someone to tearfully give it too. It didn't take but 2 weeks.
My cousin said her sister ( my cousin) who passed away, had all these clothes to fill a small department store, If I wanted them. She was the same size as I was only 6' tall... But I could adjust that, I can sew.
I wasn't prepared for what came next. Tons and tons of dresses, pant suits, gosh, you name it she had it and now it was mine.
75 % of it was never used, it still had tags on them. When I say tons, I mean, I had to buy 3 store type clothes racks because two clothes closets were packed to the rafters. My poor husband had only 12" of closet space for his clothes left. I have enough clothes till Jesus comes. When one get worn out, I move on the the next. I don't see me buying another piece of clothing in the near future. Maybe new underwear, but that about it.
It was at that pivotal point in my walk with the Lord, that I became a hilarious giver. I still try to look for ways to give. I found that by equipping others out of poverty I am still giving.
That's the spirit of tithing. Didn't Jesus teach the Spirit of the law? Well, tithing is the measure of the law......but, my God in heaven supplies all our needs by the Spirit of the law.
When it becomes a desire of the believer to give, and not a duty...........that my friend, is the spirit of the law. You open the windows of heaven and God pours out blessings you have not room to contain it all.
That is the key to tithing. The reason for tithing is so God can bless you!.
Your support keeps freedom alive!
