THE COVENANT OF HOLY COMMUNION, WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

This is one of my Sermons which Ruach Ha'Kodesh (The Holy Spirit) gave to me many years ago; Anyone desiring to make copies are welcome to do so, since what Ruach Ha'Kodesh gives belongs to no one individual, but to all.

Psa 78:2 “I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old, 3 Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us.” [The Hebrew peoples learned early in time to observe the meanings of signs, and the understanding of prophetic symbols. For it was the intent of Yah that they should diligently search for Him with all their heart, and come to know him through a genuine desire to love and serve Him, rather than just a fleeting whim of momentary self serving curiosity. Thus for us to fully understand the significance of Holy Communion, we must also understand the meanings of its relevant symbols at the time Yeshua ordained it. When Yah gave Moshe the concept of clean and unclean foods (Lev. 11:4-8). The old saying “you are what you eat” gained a great amount of significance in the Hebrew culture.] Eze 4:14 So I said, "Ah, Lord GOD! Indeed I have never defiled myself from my youth till now; I have never eaten what died of itself or was torn by beasts, nor has abominable flesh ever come into my mouth."
Act 10:14 “But Peter said, "Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean." [To ask a Hebrew person to eat something which the Torah declaired to be unclean, would be just as repulsive as asking one of us to feast on a plate of maggots. However to invite a Hebrew person to partake with you in eating a kosher sacrificial offering, would be viewed as being highly honored, for such would taken as a statement acknowledging ones worthyness in the sight of Yah.] Exo 12:43 “And the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "This is the ordinance of the Passover: No foreigner shall eat it. 44 But every man's servant who is bought for money, when you have circumcised him, then he may eat it. 45 A sojourner and a hired servant shall not eat it.” & Lev 22:25 “Nor from a foreigner's hand shall you offer any of these as the bread of your God, because their corruption is in them, and defects are in them. They shall not be accepted on your behalf. " [And likewise Holy Communion is for the followers of Yeshua only.]

[The Hebrew people understood well that an animal was unable to sin, since it could only do that which YHVH had programed its instincts to accomplish. So to sacrifice a perfect animal, and eat the flesh thereof, symbolized taking on its sinless perfection, and making it a part of ones self.] Deu 12:27 “And thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, the sinews and the blood, upon the altar of the LORD thy Elohim: and the blood of thy sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of the LORD thy Elohim, and thou shalt eat the flesh.” [The burnt offering had a great amount of significance, in that it represented several important factors. First it represented burning off the dross or repentance, and then cleansing by fire, wherein all that defiled was tried by fire and put to death, returning to dust or ashes from which it came never to rise again. It is important to note, that the sacrificial animal was to represent one's sinful self, yet instead of self; just as our sinless Mashiach took upon Himself our sins.]

Lev 17:14 “For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, You shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eats it shall be cut off.”
Deu 12:23 “Only be sure that you eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and you may not eat the life with the flesh.” [What is Yah saying here, “the blood is the life?” He is telling us that the creatures instincts, and/or character, is in its blood. Thus since man was created in the image of Elohim, a much higher form than that of the animals, it was not meant for a man to become like an animal, so a person would not want to make this a part of oneself.]

Gen 8:20 “And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savor; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.” [No Ha'Adonai was not into smoking, the sweet savour here represented Noah's prayers ascending on behalf of his sons and himself. The sacrificial offering was a very solom advent, because nothing but the very best most choice animal of a mans flock was offered.]

THE FIRST COMMUNION

Exo 12:3 Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: 'On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household. 4 And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to each man's need you shall make your count for the lamb. [We see here also that each man had to by faith accept YHVH offering of redeeming grace for himself, and his household, just as each of us have to do through Yeshua Ha'Mashiach today, to escape the Angel of death.] Exo 12:5 “Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats.” [Yeshua was likewise the first born male of Mary, and also without spot or blemish.] Exo 12:6 “Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight.” [The reason for the sacrificial lamb being taken on the tenth day, and held to the fourteenth day, was to inspect and try its perfection; All of this is a perfect foreshadow of Yeshua becoming our perfect sacrificial pesach (passover) lamb.]

Exo 12:13 “Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.” [Just as Yah acknowledged the sacrificial blood as an atonement for their sins, so too Yeshua blood serves as a covering for our sins, delivering us also from the curse of the death angel.]

Luk 22:66 “As soon as it was day, the elders of the people, both chief priests and scribes, came together and led Him into their council, saying, 67 "If You are the Christ, tell us." But He said to them, "If I tell you, you will by no means believe.”
[This is the time of Yeshua being tried and inspected for His perfection.]

Luk 22:15 “Then He said to them, "With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer;” [Here Yeshua links Holy Communion with its origin: of the first Pesach (Passover).]

Joh 6:50 “This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world." 52 The Jews therefore quarreled among themselves, saying, "How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?" 53 Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. 56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.” [This shows the importance of having a right spirit when taking communion; of all the people in Yeshua day living under Moshe Torah, the learned Pharisees and Sadducee should have understood the allegorical meaning of Yeshua words. But their evil contemptuous spirit toward Him blinded their understanding; just as it will us, if we do not receive Him with a pure heart.]

Mat 26:26 “And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." [IE. Take liberally, and make My unblemished life yours as well, by accepting My sinless perfection to become a part of you. Each time we partake of the symbolic body of Yeshua Ha'Mashiach's covenant, with a humble repentant heart during communion, we receive by our faithful obedience to His command, His renewed purity and righteousness. This we should do with our greatest and most humble gratitude, for that which Yeshua gave His all for us.]

Mat 26:27 “Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. 28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” [Remember the commandment forbidding the partaking of blood? So what was Yeshua message to His Disciples and us here? This is My life, My character, and the very essence of all that I am, make it a part of you also, that in becoming a part of you, I may grow within you, and strengthen you, as you become an extension of Me. Do you believe that this is possible? Believe it, because it is! Though it is but wine or grape juice symbolizing the shed blood of Yeshua, when taken in a faithful repentant heartfelt reverence, it produces a wonderful blessing by and through the transforming powers of Ruach Ha'Kodesh. Thus it is written,] Joh 6:56 “He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.”

1Co 10:15 “I speak as to wise men; judge for yourselves what I say. 16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? 17 For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread.”

Be blessed my beloved family, Shalom!

Excellent! That is the meaning of what Jesus said, "Do this in REMEMBRANCE OF ME and as often as you do this, you PROCLAIM MY LIFE, DEATH AND RESURRECTION , UNTIL I COME AGAIN.!"

YF, this is an absolute beautiful accounting of how The Old Testament points to the New Testament. It is all about the life giving blood with Jesus' blood being the final cleansing for all believers. Our God is a God of detail and relationship. He desires us to be His. Glory to our good and gracious God and our Lord Jesus who loved us and died for us, even in our sin.

YF, I hope you are feeling better! Thank you for leading us tonight.
