With the debt ceiling fight over, Congress has once again proven itself unwilling to cut spending, reduce the deficit and tackle our $14.3 trillion national debt.
With the debt ceiling fight over, Congress has once again proven itself unwilling to cut spending, reduce the deficit and tackle our $14.3 trillion national debt.
That's why we've decided to do their job instead—by forming our new Tea Party Debt Commission.
Over the next several months, the Tea Party Debt Commission will be holding grassroots hearings around the country and developing a plan that, at a minimum, cuts $9 trillion and balances the budget. The Tea Party Debt Commission will also select 12 local Tea Party leaders from battleground states across the country to represent the Commission and report its finding to Congress this winter.
We have several scheduled in Utah beginning on September 26th in Ogden. I hope you are able to join us and become part of this exciting new project. Senator Mike Lee will be attending two meetings in Utah along with national policy and budget experts from FreedomWorks.
Back in 2010 FreedomWorks helped organize and implement the Contract From America, a grassroots-generated candidate pledge voted on by hundreds of thousands of activists across America. Instead of Washington dictating policy, Americans demanded that candidates sign their ten-point plan for fiscal responsibility, limited government and free markets. The Contract From America became a mandate for electoral change and helped sweep scores of Tea Party freshmen into Congress during the midterm elections.
We believe the Tea Party Debt Commission can affect budget policy the same way the Contract From America affected the 2010 election.
Thousands of activists are voting online right now for the cuts they want to make to our federal government. For more information and to see some of the cuts being debated right now go here: The Tea Party Debt Commission <http://7.send-list.com/click/member/1577/2/>
