The republicans don't know how to fight just vote present

1 year 10 months ago

I agree. Now Boehner bring the middle class tax cuts to a vote. Let the Democrats own that.

1 year 10 months ago

Julie, your president voted present more often than yea or nay. I don't know where you and Ray obtain your information, can you please give me sources so I can read for myself? Thank you.

1 year 10 months ago

Amanda: What information are you talking about? I will gladly back up anything I say with sources. So please be specific in you questions.

1 year 10 months ago

Amanda, he's not my president. I didn't punctuate my comment correctly, there should have been a comma after fight. I meant they should play Obamas game and just vote present. They have been falling for his coniving for 4 years, no budget, debt commision, all the bills stalled at the senate.

Julie: the republicans are fighting for tax cuts for the rich. They are trying to cut Social Security and Medicare for the middle class. If you are a working or middleclass person voting fora Republican then you are a special kind of stupid.

Julie your welcome. The link didn't work for me. I don't log on to AOL. What does Argentina have to do with the US? That is like when we were attacked on 9/11, George W Bush invaded Iraq who had nothing to do with 9/11. Doesn't make any sense.

If it does go over the cliff.....Obama can't blame Bush for this and no matter what happens the GOP will still get the blame.

1 year 10 months ago (Edited)

He will still find a way to blame Bush, and like you say the GOP will also get the blame. But you have to admit, we haven't had a budget in almost 4 yrs. Why??? It's on both sides as I see it. They are both to blame, it could have been done at some point.

We need to stand for what is right and best for our country, no matter what.

1 year 10 months ago

Everybody knows that there is only one way to get our economy going. More tax cuts for the rich and more deregulation of business. It worked for George W Bush and we need more of the same.

1 year 10 months ago

Someone just told me that George W Bush destroyed our economy. Well, nevermind.

1 year 10 months ago

Tax cuts and deregulation of business has ALWAYS worked.

1 year 10 months ago

Diane: When was that? Show your source.

1 year 10 months ago

Ray, it's called COMMON SENSE!!!!

1 year 10 months ago

Common sense is all too UNCOMMON on this web site. A bunch of brainwashed low information voters being misinformed to vote against their own financial interests and for the interests of the rich.

1 year 10 months ago

The Republican deregulation of the financial industry is what brought on this Great Recession we are in. Countries that regulated home sales to buyers who could afford them did not melt down like we did. Greed has to be regulated.

1 year 10 months ago

The George W Bush years exposed the bankruptcy behind the theory that tax cuts for the rich will spur economic growth. "Let the rich get richer and everybody will benefit?" says Stiglitz. "That, empirically, is wrong.

The Republican Party went on a tax-cutting rampage and a spending spree," says Rhode Island governor and former GOP senator Lincoln Chafee, pointing to two deficit-financed wars and an unpaid-for prescription-drug entitlement.

The reason Republican supply side economics has not worked, is not working, and will never work is because it has a fundamental flaw i.e., it is based on our economy being driven by supply. It is not. Our economy is driven by demand.

To raise taxes some of the Republican must vote for the bill to raise it.... Victory Dems... They will claim two party support and blame the republicans.....

No new game just the same old crap.

Stand firm against freedom killing taxes!!!

1 year 10 months ago

Agreed~~!! I'd give a 'high-five' to that one!! STICK WITH YOUR GUNS, Reps. If we could see a 'spine' anywhere, perhaps we could have a little HOPE in the system again. If not, GOD HELP US ALL...!!!

Same ole, same ole.

1 year 10 months ago

Beohner stand firm. Do not raise taxes on the rich. Cut Social Security and Medicare for the middle class instead. Let the middle class save for their own retirement or kick them to the curb when they are elderly. I am not my brother's keeper.

1 year 10 months ago

Most of the income of the wealthy comes from capital gains and dividends. The top rate on capital gains and dividends is 15%. The wealthy do not pay Social Security and medicare taxes on this investment income. The top rate on wage income is 35% plus 7.65% payroll taxes.

Stand firm against the Freedom killing taxes. Wait. Why is Boehner trying to take away middle class freedom by not voting to cut their Freedom killing tax increases. I guess it only kills Freedom when taxes go up on the rich.

I do not understand why voters are not supporting the Tea Party. I know why. They are a bunch of socialist, communist, Marxist, Muslim, who hate Freedom and love Dictatorship. They would rather vote for a black man for President than a Republican.

Question: Where is the stopping point in the Liberal takings?

The rich are leaving the USA thanks to business killing government controls on the free market....

Entrepreneurs don't create DEMAND consumers do. The consumer has to want the product and also has to have the ability to buy the product. A middle class tax cut puts money in the hands of the consumer. They buy products and that stiimulates demand.

There is a lot of waste and fraud in our nation's budget. There are also some programs that don't work. A bi-partisan committee should look over the budget and eliminate the unnecessary spending.

Woked this time. Milton is a shill for rich people or an idiot I am not sure which one. Why don't we lower the minimum wage rate to 50 cents an hour, then all the black kids would have jobs BS.

 … More
1 year 10 months ago

Why don't we just tax everyone at 100% then, since you are actually arguing that higher taxes, especially on the well off, promotes economic growth. Why not raise the minimum wage to $100 hour. Because as Thomas Sowell said, "The real minimum wage is zero." Of course there has to be demand.

Republicans or in most case RINO's are going to cave anyway. All Republicans should vote present and let the Marxist dems own the tax increases.

1 year 10 months ago

Reagan's tax cut for the rich did not stimulate the economy but it did increase our nation's debt dramatically. Reagan borrowed money and spent it on the military. Stimulus spending on a credit card.

1 year 10 months ago

The top 1% has 35% of the wealth of our country. 90% has 23% of the wealth. How much wealth do you want the rich to have?

1 year 10 months ago

Whatever they earn. They earned it so what makes you think you are entitled to it?

1 year 10 months ago

Ray, I can cite studies that refute your statements and you can cite studies that refute my statements. So, let’s focus on the root issue. First, 49% of those living in the USA do not pay any Federal income tax.

 … More
1 year 10 months ago

I do not think I am entitled to anything. I just believe that the rich should pay their fair share of taxes. That is not happening. The rich redefined their income as capital gains and dividents and get preferential tax treatment for their income. Capital gains and dividend top tax rate is 15%.

The 47 percent of people you are talking about do not pay FEDERAL income taxes. But, you forget that they pay about 7.65 % payroll taxes, 9% sales taxes, property taxes, excise taxes, etc etc.

Considering all taxes — federal, state, and local — the bottom 20 percent of households pays an average of 16 to 17 percent of their incomes in taxes. The next 20 percent of households pays about 21 percent of income in taxes, on average.
