University to ask students about sexual orientation, gender identity on college applications

The University of Iowa has become the nation's first public university to ask incoming students about their gender identity and sexual orientation. "I think it sends a message of welcome out to anyone, that identity is identity," Georgina Dodge, the school's chief diversity officer and associate vice president, told the Daily News.
