While a lesser percentage of land in Alaska is official federal land, a far lesser percentage is private than in Nevada, in fact about a percent... yes 1% of Alaska land is of private ownership. That one percent only applies to surface rights. Between the federal land, the native allotment land, and state land, the private citizen of Alaska is essentially permitted to live here in order to provide as much energy resource to the other 49 states as the government allows. Alaska is a resource pantry for the rest of the nation, and a unique duality of a free spirit vs govt dominance.
