The clownish politicians in DC need to take a long hard look into their own back yard when it comes to assault weapons when creating a ban/bill on them. Our own Gov. created/funded (with our tax dollars I might add), Project Fast and Furious allowing high powered assault weapons to fall into the hands of murderous tyrants that could and most likely will, end up back here in the states, possibly responsible for crimes/murders against our own children and citizens. A ban/bill against weapons is the same as a ban/bill against drugs.... Useless! Drugs and weapons will always be readily available to those who are intent on committing a violent crime/murder. If by chance a ban/bill on assault weapons does put a nitch into getting high-capacity weapons , perps will find other means of committing a crime. Perhaps blowing up schools, theaters, stores that are filled with children/adults. (Also, Anything can be used as a weapon when one is eager to to kill).. This ban can and might escalate into something more violent in time. DC should think about the chances of their own assault weapons "Mistake" making it's way into the hands of evil doer's here in this country who are committed in carrying out their violent actions... Project Fast and Furious is a issue that will come back to haunt those politicians in DC and innocent lives have and will continue to pay the price..

If We, the People sit on our hands and allow this ban to take place a dictatorship is all but assured! The Democrats think that the wind is at their backs on this issue due to the CT tragedy! We have to push back with all of our might or we will become subjects is a socialist state and at the mercy of those that will prey on us! I, for one say over my dead body!

Feinstein wants to let you keep the ´grandfathered´ guns, but....she wants you registered, fingerprinted, and photographed if you do! Smile for the camera! You can wipe the ink off your fingers on that towel!

Looks like I´d be a criminal.

My gut feeling is that they will ram this through like Obamacare. It will be over 1,000 pages long, be named "The Omnibus Citizen Protection and Gun Safety Bill", and the Supreme Court will eventually declare it valid.

Sickening.

Not sure if such a ban would pass constitutional muster because the Heller decision stated that handguns in "common usage" could not be banned. Of course such a challenge would take years to sort out, and after Obamacare, who the heck can predict how the SCOTUS will rule?

The 2nd Amendment was never about protecting our right to hunt. It was to ensure that our citizens were armed and prepared to defend themselves from a government (ours or any other) that attempts to remove their freedoms from them. As such, the ability to own "military-style" weapons is not only a right but a duty. It is our protection from tyranny. Look at what happened in 1930's Germany when they tools guns from the public, in Russia and China at the birth of communism. The removal of firearms in almost every state has prefaced the onset of fanatical tyranny. Before you say: "that can't happen here"; take a hard look at the rise of socialism here.
