Not only there. The are some real nutcases with guns that like to do mass murder. These need to be stopped. Take Iceland for example. No deaths with guns for 15 years. How do they do it.....simple. To get a gun you have to go through a mental health check up.

Yes, but what criteria will the Government Doctors use to determine whether or not a person should not have a firearm? Who determines what a sound mental health condition is or isn't. The Constitution doesn't mention a psychological examination as a condition to exercise the Second Amendment Right. Returning Veterans have been targeted by Government Doctors and classified with PTSD. I have some concerns about my government conducting psychological examinations for any reason.

I've lived in Iceland so I can speak to what has worked there. To get a gun you take a gun safety class, a marksmanship class (so you can shoot what you aim at), have to have two citizens vouch that you are not a criminal, have an interview with a private psychiatrist and do an interview with the local police. Their murder rate is 0.1 per 100,000. In the US is 4.5. They get 2 or 3 murders a year mostly due to love triangles and they tend to be done with knives or poison. They don't let their nutcases get guns.

Ed, I live in California. It's almost impossible, if not impossible, to get a conceal carry in this State. The enforcement authority represents the local political base, City, County or State wide. We are very Progressive here. We are very restrictive here. The recent National Bozo politicians want to copy California's example. Diane Feinstein, my Senator, wants to eliminate semi-autos, and more. We call the rest of the US, Free America. With the restrictions we have here, I don't need a pyschological examination to exercise the little rights left that I have. The political power base here will go overboard, and we will be left with sling shots and rocks. I do not object to taking technical weapons tests. Everyone should know the dangers inherent in a weapon. I do not object to an interview regarding the safe operation of a weapon. However, I do object to a government agency/mental health official interrogation. The police here ask to search your vehicle when you have a tail light out.

The Progressives here have proven that their doctrines are a failure. I can't trust them to instruct and educate the children properly. I will not let them determine my mental health so I may exercise my 2nd Amendment Right to possess a firearm.

The number of people, population, has nothing to do with social problems or violence. It's the rate per 100,000 that social scientists use. Otherwise every large country in the world would do much better or worse than every small country. You have to compare apples to apples.

Like most of Europe most of the population no longer actually attend a church but retain "official membership" for social reasons. You can owns guns but with more restrictions and police involvement. They haven't had a murder due to gunfire in 15 years.

Yes, LA and most large cities are a mess. In the US a lot of education funding is based on property taxes so wealthy suburban areas have better schools than poorer cities. That’s what the US ranks 17 in science and math education while Finland is number 1.

Indiana is a decent place to live.

I hope Indiana stays that way as long as you keep the Progressives out. I had training at Fort Benjamin Harrision. Only for three months. However, every chance I got I went off post and drove in the country. I had a good feeling about Indiana. We don't have white castle hamburgers fast food places in California. Only in the frozen food sections. In any event, comparing the US to Iceland is more like comparing an old watermelon with a fresh grape.
