What is critical is that the current course is changed - dramatically! If a budget can be passed that includes the drastic changes in social and pork spending necessary to change our future then the debt ceiling is not material.

The US will not default on the debt without an increase. If the Repubs get all of the spending cuts promised since Reagan and they are implemented first then they can promise to think about considering a potential raise in the debt limit a some future time.
