Texas only got 125,000 signatures out of how many million people? There is no majority there. There is no viable movement here.

As Wikipedia notes "Threats or aspirations to secede from the United States or arguments justifying secession have been a feature of the country's politics almost since its birth. Some have argued for secession as a constitutional right and others as from a natural right of revolution. In Texas v. White, the United States Supreme Court ruled unilateral secession unconstitutional, while commenting that revolution or consent of the states could lead to a successful secession."

Even though there is no written rule, if it ever came to the point where there was no turning back, it would be wise to let the state(s) seceed peacefully. Once you hit a permanant division within the country, all we will do is make it weaker. Secession would only make the Union stronger by casting aside thoes who no longer wish to be a part of it. The government could spend more time and effort on the remaining states turning them into the communist party it so craves.

Secession could be seen as a win/win. The Union can continue on its self destructive path and the new independant states could start cultivating their own new government. It would be hard to start with, but as long as the people don't lose the will and dertimination to be a free society, the independant states can succeed and prosper. There's just alot of planning involved.

Let's not forget though. This is a path that MUST be considered a "Plan Z" When there is no other option left on the table. Lincoln did say it best and it still holds true. Lincold said "A house divided can not stand." This is also the reason I love the Kentucky state flag (aside from me being from there of course).
