Praying In the Name of Jesus

Thank you all for praying together in the name of Jesus again. It was a blessing to be able to pray several times with people across America in different time zones.

I have felt for some time that God wanted me to be a fisher of men and He has guided me to a place in my life where I believe the time is right. My pride has been taken, my spirit humbled, my demons subdued, my heart softened, my love lifted, my faith fuller, and my will to serve God is stronger than ever. Please continue to join me here each Sunday in prayer and invite others. Please read my post that will contain a beautiful hymn and a short message inspired by God.

The song this week is “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” as sung by Merle Haggard. I believe God helped me picked his rendition for several reasons. First, Merle does a great job singing it. The pictures of Jesus in the video are inspiring and the message of His friendship is fitting for this group. Finally, Merle Haggard was far from perfect but still loved God enough to sing gospel songs with conviction. We have all fallen short of the glory of God, but He loves us all regardless of our shortcomings. Even as the sinners all of us are, we can use the talents God gave us to glorify Him. We should not stand in judgment of our brothers and sisters in Christ. We should not focus on the speck in their eye when we have a splinter in our own. We should try to see the good in everyone even if they hide it well. I hope God focuses more on the good I have done than the bad.

I would like to close this post with a prayer. Dear gracious and heavenly Father, I come before You today praying in the name of Jesus to give thanks for all the many blessings You bestow upon us each and every day. Thank You for sending Your Son to show us how we should treat one another and to lay down His life for us that we may be forgiven. Thank You for the friends who join together each week in prayer. Thank You for another beautiful day. Thank You for our freedom and this great Nation. I pray You will continue to bless us. I pray You will guide our leaders. I pray You will give President Obama the wisdom and courage to make righteous decisions in his second term. I pray You will be with the hostages in Algeria and bring them home safely. I pray You will be with Pastor Saeed as he is being persecuted in Iran for preaching Your word. I pray You will ease the troubled minds of those in the military who are contemplating suicide and bless them for defending Your gift of freedom. I pray You will be with Jillian as she fights for her life and that You will comfort her family. I pray anyone reading this who has not invited God into their heart will do so today. I pray these things in Jesus name. Amen.

Even a dog know when it has sinned: The bible makes it very clear God's law is written in every heart, the conscience bearing witness. Romans 2:15

Dear Lord, thank you for hearing our prayers placing our lives in Your hands. I know that it is in You that we can trust. Even when we fall, You are there to pick us up and help us walk again. You are the Lord who makes the blind see, the deaf hear and the lame walk. In Your precious name, Amen.
