Atheists Warn Congressmen NOT to Join Prayer Caucuss

December 9, 2012

Atheists Threaten New Congressmen-women About Joining Prayer Caucus
posted on December 8, 2012 by Dave Jolly

The Congressional Prayer Caucus was formed in 2005 by Rep. Randy Forbes (R-VA). Today, the caucus has over 100 bipartisan members and meets weekly in Room 217 in the US Capitol Building. Currently Forbes and Mike McIntyre (D-NC) co-chair the caucus.

However, you can forget your freedom of religion if you’re one of the newly elected members to the US House of Representatives.

The American Humanist Association has sent a letter to all of the newly elected members of the House, warning them against joining the Congressional Prayer Caucus. Part of the letter reads:

“Incoming House members should know that approximately one in five of their constituents are not religiously affiliated, and even more insist on maintaining the wall of separation between church and state.”

Roy Speckhardt, Executive Director of AHA also warned in the letter that any type of endorsement of public prayer will:

“…alienate millions of non-religious Americans who oppose the joining of religion and government.”

Prayer Caucus Co-chairman Rep. Forbes commented about the letter saying:

“What these extremist groups are fighting for – and they’ve got a lot of dollars and they’re well orchestrated – is they want to make certain that no one in government can even mention God or faith or religion, and no one in the church can mention anything about government. That is far from what the First Amendment was written to protect.”

Someone needs to point out to all of the new House members that received this letter that it states 1 in 5 are not religiously affiliated. That leaves 4 in 5 that are! I don’t know about you, but if I were a Congressman, I would be much more concerned about the 80% than I would be about the 20%. Twenty percent won’t get you elected to anything, but sure 80% sure can.

Additionally, a member of Congress will alienate many more millions of Americans who oppose the fallacious separation of church and state.

The bottom line is that a minority is trying to threaten newly elected House members by drawing their attention and focus away from the majority of their constituents to a small minority. That godless minority will succeed if we, the Silent Majority, remain silent and say nothing to our representatives in Washington. It’s up to every one of you to make your voices heard and urge your Congressman-woman to join the Congressional Prayer Caucus and ignore the letter they received from the AHA.

I don't know about anyone else but I do believe I've had my fill of atheists. It is time they stop imposing their nonbelief on us, it is time they sit down and shut up and leave others alone!! They claim they don't want others beliefs shoved down there throat, well we don't want their's shoved down ours!!! Gimmie

Whether or not someone believes, The Ten Comm and allowing the word God/Jesus to be spoken or put on display, it serves as reminder of bounderies not to be crossed, a compass to guage behavior and thought on. If they were hung in the schools, just the sight would work as a reminder....oh yeah I'm not supposed to..... How can this be harmful?

God does not hold one accountable until they know whatever is being done is right or wrong.

Jon, you couldn't be more right. Without God, we don't have a chance...

Hello, all! I missed this particular thread, and also have been laid up because I threw my back out. Gimmie contacted me, however to call my attention to the thread, and I must admit, now I'm glad. Time to get some stuff off my chest that's been percolating since I reviewed the thread (takes deep breath):

Randy...thats cool....now you are a devil worshiper lol. I guess all the nuts do grow together.

Mikie....as long as we hold steadfast to the Constitution they cannot attack anything. I just don't understand how you people can't see yourselves as bitter and petty. Mike...you pretty much disagree with anything you don't like or are afraid of....no surprise there. Buddhism is also a philosophy with much to learn from....but that doesn't matter to you because you don't wanna hear that.

Welcome back Val and hopefully you continue doing better. Presently I am still getting settled from my Nov. lst move .. very physically demanding and time consuming.

1 year 8 months ago

George you twist my point, I said I do not like, meaning follow, Buddisim etc.
Let me try and explain this again, while I believe Jews, Buddists and others they have an absolute right to be here and practice theur religion, atheists, who I strongly disagree with have a right to be here but these people mean me no harm where islam does!
That has been shown to you repeatedly by myself and others, why you don't comprehend is hard to understand.

I have an aquaintence, deputy sherrif, combat fire arms instructor, Taught lots of Hollywood types how to hold a gun and look correct doing it. among other things. He says when he was little. another child on the playground asked him if he beleived in God? He said No, he was an athiest. So all the other (supposedly Christian) kids joined in and beat him into the ground. He's still an Athiest. He's just more careful who he says it too. But he is disgusted by professing Christians.

George I believe it was I who siad to put the fear of God into the atheist and that is exactly what they need, not physical from us but to become awakened.

1 year 8 months ago

Randy interesting story but I have to tell you growing up on Chicago's south side I saw kids beat up because they were Jews, Catholics and everything else, they also never lost their belief.
I have said this many times but I will repeat it, if the atheist will leave my religion alone I will leave their non religion alone but as long as they want to sue about a cross or a nativety scene I will fight them to my dying days!

Val, so what am I to understand - are you another Christian here? (Not joking, I can't tell.) Do you believe in salvation through claiming the blood of Jesus Christ has attoned for your sins? Or are you one who doesn't know scripture? This is not an accusation, I am just trying to understanding you.

I find your post to me, full of anger and/or hate, ridicule, and void of any love or kindness or concern. Similar to how several others have addressed me here.

So Mike, do you see your position as a Christian (no offense assuming you are presenting yourself as one, and I certainly don't know) one where you are commaneded to leave them alone? I see Matt 28:16-20 is rather a different task.

1 year 8 months ago

Tell me what has the commission to do with this conversation?
Btw: No offense in calling me a Christian, I am!

1 year 8 months ago

Good question Randy but I must ask it to you...

Do you see your position as a Christian? I am trying very much to see what your purpose is... It just seems to me that you are a faith buster type of guy.

I think Mike's position is very well established not only here but through out FC and my gut tell me he serves the Lord well in his life.

Hey, Michael! Thanks for the welcome back. How was your move? That must have been a pain. Things are still a bit chaotic here with the reno continuing. But I'm getting a beautiful, brand new apartment out of it, so no complaints! Yeah, I was just reaching for something and I guess I reached a little too far and out went my back! It was a good thing I wasn't cantoring that weekend! Finally getting some improvement, though.

Boot, you are a ray of sanity in my otherwise crazy day. I like and respect you a great deal. God bless!

Anyone wishing to exercise their religious beliefs especially during this tragic shooting certainly should do so, and those who choose not too may remain silent.

1 year 8 months ago

Randy was a fool because he was complaining because, "couldn't we just get along", when I saw no evidence that we weren't getting along, so he was just instigating problems, as seen from more arguments to all.

My new place I've visited over a number of years and decided that when a person enjoys an area it's probably a good place to live, and it is. Dubbed by Chicago as "the best little town in the midwest" and on Lake Superior, the largest surface fresh water lake in the world, along with the fresh air, wilderness, wildlife and tranquility not to mention the friendliness of the locals it certainly remains a very wise move.

Val you are too kind...

I must tip my hat to you for the original flavor of your posts. You are a read I look forward to.

This can be appreciated thru all the hot air, First Prayer In Congress: http://connect.freedomworks.org/node/160... Wallbuilders is another good source for believers. no matter how you slice it atheists are just as judgmental and worse because they vainly try crucifying and purging Christians.

Wow Randy Wow! I must admit you have made quite an impression on all of us here! It does appear though that I have made an impression on you also. Maybe you feel that I didn't notice the warmth and love you approached us with at first, you reached out in kindness and got your hand slapped instead. Well it wasn't all a total loss, George T recognized your delema and attempted to rescue you didn't he? Since you guys are so intelligent may I ask you a question?

Gimmie most of the current administrations advisers and associates are either commies, muslims or devotees of black liberation theology, you know the ones who either do not believe in God or as Bari's church says if God is not on their side they must kill God!
The media plays the tunes jugears wants to hear so what can you expect.
Atheists sue over stuff they do not believe in and citizens like George see bo danger in islam.
Still wonder why this country is screwed up?

I had a good friend a state cop killed in a traffic accident the DOT placed a cross at the spot but the atheist made them take it down. You can imagine how happy I was to pass that spot only to see on private property a rather large cross with his name on it!

Michael: that's fantastic! Superior is beautiful, I hear. I've only ever seen Ontario, and my family used to have a summerhome on Seneca, the best of all the Fingerlakes. Hate to say it, but every time I hear Superior, though, it reminds me of the Edmund Fitzgerald. That's what coomes of being from seafaring stock. Dad was in the Navy for 21 years, and when I was a girl he used to take me trout fishing on Seneca.

Quoting scripture is ok.... But it sure makes for dull posting. Using scripture quotes to try to discourage faith in God and hope in salvation...

Well It's just a real ugly type of mean. Don't ya think so Val?

1 year 8 months ago

Boot I'm not Val so I'll let her give her own answer but what I've noticed along time ago is that anybody can pluck out a verse of scripture to "prove" their point. The thing is, is usually it is taken out of context and the true meaning of the words are completely twisted to say the opposite of what is meant. That's why we are supposed to know, read, study the Bible ourselves because even a man of the cloth can mislead us, if we don't know the truth how can we know a lie.

Randy that reminds me, you never have said if I passed or failed the test you gave me that you thought I didn't know what you were doing. So was it just me or are you testing everyone here? It looks as if you were "testing" Val also, is the reason I ask.
