Atheists Threaten New Congressmen-women About Joining Prayer Caucus
posted on December 8, 2012 by Dave Jolly

The Congressional Prayer Caucus was formed in 2005 by Rep. Randy Forbes (R-VA). Today, the caucus has over 100 bipartisan members and meets weekly in Room 217 in the US Capitol Building. Currently Forbes and Mike McIntyre (D-NC) co-chair the caucus.

However, you can forget your freedom of religion if you’re one of the newly elected members to the US House of Representatives.

The American Humanist Association has sent a letter to all of the newly elected members of the House, warning them against joining the Congressional Prayer Caucus. Part of the letter reads:

“Incoming House members should know that approximately one in five of their constituents are not religiously affiliated, and even more insist on maintaining the wall of separation between church and state.”

Roy Speckhardt, Executive Director of AHA also warned in the letter that any type of endorsement of public prayer will:

“…alienate millions of non-religious Americans who oppose the joining of religion and government.”

Prayer Caucus Co-chairman Rep. Forbes commented about the letter saying:

“What these extremist groups are fighting for – and they’ve got a lot of dollars and they’re well orchestrated – is they want to make certain that no one in government can even mention God or faith or religion, and no one in the church can mention anything about government. That is far from what the First Amendment was written to protect.”

Someone needs to point out to all of the new House members that received this letter that it states 1 in 5 are not religiously affiliated. That leaves 4 in 5 that are! I don’t know about you, but if I were a Congressman, I would be much more concerned about the 80% than I would be about the 20%. Twenty percent won’t get you elected to anything, but sure 80% sure can.

Additionally, a member of Congress will alienate many more millions of Americans who oppose the fallacious separation of church and state.

The bottom line is that a minority is trying to threaten newly elected House members by drawing their attention and focus away from the majority of their constituents to a small minority. That godless minority will succeed if we, the Silent Majority, remain silent and say nothing to our representatives in Washington. It’s up to every one of you to make your voices heard and urge your Congressman-woman to join the Congressional Prayer Caucus and ignore the letter they received from the AHA.

I don't know about anyone else but I do believe I've had my fill of atheists. It is time they stop imposing their nonbelief on us, it is time they sit down and shut up and leave others alone!! They claim they don't want others beliefs shoved down there throat, well we don't want their's shoved down ours!!! Gimmie

With ya there GP. I'm sure you've heard of the Freedom From Religion Foundation? (They got there start here in Wis). Just form our own group - the Freedom From Freedom From Religion Foundation Foundation.

Well, if Christians want to keep their right to pray or set up a nativity, they will just have to say, "we're going to do it! Take us to court, but there are more of us than you, and we say it stays!" Until Christians are as adamant about their rights as the opposing groups are, we will get kicked around!

How about The Freedom FOR Religion Foundation

Annette I've been trying to convince people to do this for years! I really do believe they're a bunch of sniveling slimey snakes---if you stand up to their bullying they coward down! Especially when it starts happening over and over and over--we aint going away!

Either way, means the same thing. I was just playin' off their own name. There have been a couple of victories for us lately. That nativity that was in a highway median strip for generations can be put back in again, and the cross in the Mojave Desert is going back up.

haha Jon, I know you were. I wasn't correcting you, I just went the opposite. ;-) You bet we are, that's one reason we've really got to start fighting them back every single time!! The courts are even slowly siding with us more and more. The cross in the mojave kind of crawls up my spine because the property that it was sitting on had to be traded, one acre for the cross for 5 acres of land for the atheists.

“Incoming House members should know that approximately one in five of their constituents are not religiously affiliated, and even more insist on maintaining the wall of separation between church and state.”

It seems like these people are confused as to what "separation between church and state." means.

I support the congressional prayer caucus. proudly wearing "In god We Trust" on back of my suburban. Atheist humanism is just another poor excuse of yet another religion that does not tolerate other religions. Like Islam's mullah Theocracys are being used by Atheist humanism's Commie/socialist to gang up and intimidate Christians who came here to get away from same type mistakes by church of England. We grew up and became the United States of America, their intolerant asses have not.

Gimmie how about this instead of a seperate group we convince the religious leaders to come together as one voice to fight the atheist!
The old saying "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" applies to the atheists they make the most noise!

Morning GP. I wasn't happy either with Mojave Cross deal, but the Cross is standing again.I don't know if the atheist's think that deal is a stick in our eye or what, but I just thought of this; what God can accomplish with very little - a few loaves of bread and some fish - and what He could do with that one acre.

I still have to wonder exactly what atheists are afraid of, I mean I know Mickey Mouse is not real but the kids enjoy him so I see no harm.
Maybe they are scared that they are wrong?
Anybody see that atheist on O'Reily the other night complaining that he was "forced" to celebrate Christmas because the post office etc. was closed?
He could always do as our muslim in chief does, go to Hawaii and play golf!

Mike, I believe Atheists are afraid of responsibility and accountability for their own selfish actions by an all knowing and righteous God whom will execute judgement on our mortal souls.

Threatened by this islamic and communist government to NOT go to a Christian Faith event. All I will say is, GO GO GO and TO HELL WITH ALL OF THE ISLAMICS AND COMMUNISTS AND ANYONE ELSE WHO DOESN'T KNOW WHY THERE IS A SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE. And it isn't so that you are threatened if you go to your church, but you RIGHT to go to your church no matter what is said or threatened by ANY ISLAMIC or COMMUNIST or OTHER POS.

Atheists are the branch that dies and will be pruned away...

This forum is called "Freedom Connector". There is not a thing in this thread that is "connective", only hateful and divisive.

These atheists are doing their best to get God out of this country!

So Randy with your all inclusive, tolerant, "love" speach is the standard that you insist we all meet. You sound like you are one of those left leaning, environmentalist, big govt believers that don't want us to shove our religion down your throat! Are you? Your religion is Big Govt. and your God is the EPA. Kind of hypocritical don't you think? You don't want us shoving but who is being FORCED to succumb to the others belief?

Pandering to evil divides! Standing firm against willful rebuking of God or false judgement is just.
