Written by a man who, according to our teachings, was a poor, self educated man who read and learned by candlelight. My question is, "after reading this, where do you stand?"
Four score and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
We are now engaged in a great civil war, testing the nation, or any nation so conceived Nd so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that this nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.
But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate- - - can not consecrate- - - we can not hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor remember what we say here, but can never forget what they did here.
It is for us - - - the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task before us- - - that from these honored dead, we take increase devotion to the cause for which they gave their full measure of devotion- - - that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain- - - that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom- - - and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
As I always have been....
Ready to die for freedom. It's a blessed American thing.

love the Gettysburg address...means so much...we need to get the feeling of love of country, if it's not too late.
I agree with both of you-to whom much is given,much is required. We have been blessed to live in an American republic and given unbelievable opportunity to acheive. Current attacks from from liberal progressives and declining moral character, as well as massive debt, have weakened our great nation to the point of collapse. We must fight or lose forever our precious freedom!
Yea Susan you are right but good luck getting people to part with their jobs, bills, possessions, life styles, Making people realize Now is the time to rise up and fight for what God has given us is the hard part. i've been trying for well over a year. they want to debate and beg DC to change,,, see how far it has gotten us so far.?
