Let's Give up on the Constitution!

January 29, 2013

Georgetown law professor Louis Michael Seidman was recently featured in a CBS News segment in which he opined:
I’ve got a simple idea: Let’s give up on the Constitution. I know, it sounds radical, but it’s really not. Constitutional disobedience is as American as apple pie. For example, most of our greatest Presidents — Jefferson, Lincoln, Wilson, and both Roosevelts — had doubts about the Constitution, and many of them disobeyed it when it got in their way.

Now here is a radical idea.....let's live and govern by the Constitution!

That man has to be crazy and why don't he go live in China or North Korea and he can live without our constitution and we can keep ours or how about this we divide the country into freedom and conservative get one half and liberals get the other half

How can you be a scholar of the Constitution and not love the engineering genius of that document. I wrote that school and demanded that guy's resignation. These Progressive are teaching disdain for the Constitution. They never mention the fact that they destroyed it in 1913 with the ratification of the 16th and 17th Amendments.

The profs are finally crawling out of their holes. Had they been honest we would have had this conversation years ago. Now that they are out we can address this and teach our children openly. I hope Fox news hits on this hard. Very hard.

Just remember that Professors like this guy, like Churchill in colorado(Insane radical that could not be fired) and you habe Bill Ayres the Terrorist who created Obama.Universities promote Progressive SCUM BAGS that truly believe in not only Socialism, but many Communism.
Notice they all have cushy jobs, big bucks, huge benefits and little accountability.Like most politicians

Most of the people in Congress are lawyers....our president is a lawyer....supposedly a constitutional attorney....I would truly say that they did not read the document, but were taught what was bad about it and just took it as they heard it. As David said, it was pure genius and many hours of study and research to come up with the Constitution. And now these liberals are tearing it apart and teaching others how to do just that.

I think the professor, in terms of making a point, hit the nail on the head. In a two party system the party not in power always points out the Constitutional violations of the party in power, then when they gain power, they commit the same violations using the previous violations as precedent justification

I have lived here a very long time, and I will never say that the conservatives who have been in power came even close to this administration in tearing up the constitution....not even close.

How do you like the part that he says so what if Obama isn't born here. What is that crap. He knows Obama is a plant. He is a communist plant. This guy is a communist and he doesn't care who knows it! Obama is now trying to get our marines to confiscate our guns. They are preparing military training exercises in Fla and Texas. He is tyrannical like Hitler and Stalin!

My experience has been that the republicans try to do right. The democrats on the other hand always do as they please and don't think of the law. They have the attitude that they will do as they please and we have to hold them accountable. Well the courts are backed up because of attitudes like that.

while I tend to believe Repubs are the lessor eveil their are democrats that have the exact opposite experience.

Well
When Louis Michael Seidman writes a better declaration of how a nation should work, I would like to see it. It is easy to say such things when your are of the ilk that has no ideas of merit to speak about.
We The People are the 4th and most powerful arm of government, and I think that we should have that power put back in our hands, via the internet.

Dwight, We The People are losing more than just our power. It has become crystal clear that we don't count anymore as to what is right for our own country. We have been delegated to second class status and the elites think they know best. Whatever it takes for us to be the owner of our own destinies and have the ability to live life without government intrusion, will take a massive coalition of the faithful.

I am taking what he said as it coming from a classroom and we did not get all of what he said. So I am taking it as a thinking point because otherwise all I could to is say he is crazy and has a form of government which leans towards pure democracy, mob rule.

I agree, John. How about Rubio in a Cabinet position?

1 year 5 months ago

C Nana, I would not disagree with that. There is a lot I like about Rubio, at least he seems like he is real, at least for now.

I heard a couple of people discussing him on the radio...they both know him. They said that the best thing about him is that when he answers a question, you know it is not a talking point but a deep knowledge and passion for his conservative roots. That says a lot to me.
